CELEBRATING 175 YEARS

Throughout the 2026–2027 school year, the Mount de Sales community will celebrate 175 years of tradition, achievement, and unwavering commitment to the education of young women. Founded in 1852 by the Visitation Sisters from Georgetown, Mount de Sales was the first Catholic school in Baltimore County to educate young women of all denominations. Originally a boarding and day school, the Academy welcomed students from across the United States and abroad.

Today, many historic features of the original campus remain, reflecting its rich heritage and place on the Maryland Historic Register. Since 1985, the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia have continued the Academy's Catholic educational tradition, helping to sustain the mission that has guided Mount de Sales for nearly two centuries.
As MDSA looks forward to our 175th anniversary, we want to hear about the personal and professional successes, achievements, and celebrations of our alumnae! MDSA alumnae are often humble, so it’s sometimes hard to share your successes. Help MDSA take pride in you and other alumnae by sharing your successes.

Sometimes we see the successes of a Sailor Sisters a little more clearly than we do our own successes. If you are proud of a Sailor, share that information as well. The Sailor you would like to honor and recognize may not receive our communication or, through their humility, may not view their accomplishments as you do.

Remember, you are students for four years but alumnae for life!
